In an exceptional display of teamwork, the 14U Seahawks emerged as champions in the highly competitive Battle of the Bay lacrosse tournament held at GT Bray Park in Bradenton, FL on April 1st. The Seahawks went undefeated on the day and beat the St. Pete Dragons with a resounding 4 to 1 victory in the championship game.
The Seahawks success can be attributed to several standout performances. Shawn McMinn’s performance at the face-off X provided the team with valuable possessions, while their quick and efficient ball movement created numerous scoring opportunities that were capitalized upon by the offensive unit. Aiden Sleigher’s aggressive play on attack kept the Dragons’ defense on their toes, ensuring the Seahawks maintained a relentless offensive pressure.
With the absence of Vinnie O’Leary due to injury, Jackson Cail carried the weight of goalie alone throughout the entire tournament, showcasing his skills and composure under pressure. Supported by the solid defensive efforts of Rogan Brooks and Kai Strom, the Seahawks’ defense proved to be impenetrable, keeping the Dragons’ to one goal.
Coach Jamie Carver expressed immense pride in his team’s accomplishments, emphasizing the unity and dedication that has developed among the players over the years. With a longstanding history of playing together, the 14U Seahawks’ victory stands as a testament to teamwork.
